UZBEKISTAN`S REGIONS TO HAVE ICT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMES

The Cabinet of Ministers was ordered to develop and approve Programmes for the development of information technologies and communications in the regions for 2018-2020 and a targeted list of priority projects.

This was stipulated by the decree of the head of state "On measures to further improve the sphere of information technologies and communications".

The Programme will include:

- further development of telecommunications infrastructure, providing the population with high-quality mobile communications, broadband Internet access;

- implementation of modern information systems, software and databases in the field of health, social protection, education, public services, tourism, as well as the organization of "smart" and "safe" cities and regions;

- implementation of innovative projects on the basis of public-private partnership, as well as support for the production of export-oriented software products;

- further expansion of e-government services, especially in remote areas.
