UZBEKISTAN AND IDB TO CONSIDER COOPERATION STRATEGY FOR $ 1.4 BILLION
Interim President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Prime Minister Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with President of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Bandar Hajjar on October 18.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated the guest on his election as the head of one of the most reputable financial institutions of the Muslim world, he expressed the hope that the IDB will continue to make a worthy contribution to strengthening the unity of the Islamic world and the development of all the member countries of the OIC.
The meeting noted the dynamic development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the IDB, particularly in the development and implementation of socially and economically oriented projects. A clear proof of that is the fact that the Islamic Development Bank has allocated more than 1.4 billion US dollars for the implementation of 26 projects in Uzbekistan in the fields of health care, education, irrigation and land reclamation, energy, water, municipal economy, road infrastructure development, support for small business.
Moreover, it was stressed that there is huge potential for further development of the relationship, raising it to a qualitatively new level. It was agreed to develop a program of practical actions on the exchange of delegations at various levels in order to study and harness untapped opportunities, create new projects, expand the scope of the partnership.
It was noted that Uzbekistan supports the development of strategic cooperation with the IDB. In this regard, our country is ready to co-develop and adopt cooperation strategy for 2017-2019 in the current year. Currently, proposals for 21 projects worth 1.4 billion US dollars have been prepared for inclusion in the strategy.
The guest expressed gratitude to Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the invitation to participate in Tashkent forum of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation passing under the motto "Education - the path to peace and creation" as well as for high praise of activity of the IDB in his speech, he said that he supports all the proposals of Uzbekistan in order to develop relationships, confirmed the readiness to implement the agreements reached.
There was an exchange of opinions on prospects of IDB participation in implementation of initiative of government of Uzbekistan – to create International scientific-research center at the memorial complex to Imam Bukhari in Samarkand to study rich religious-spiritual heritage of our great ancestors, who made invaluable contribution to the development of not only of Islamic culture, but also of the world civilization.
The principle "Education - against ignorance" laid in the foundation of this initiative is significant as it involves the study of the Islamic religion not through false ideas causing it harm but through mastering the legacy of such geniuses as Imam Bukhari, Imam Termizi, Mahmud Zamakhshari, Bahauddin Naqshband, Burhaniddin Marginani, Imam Maturidi, Abu Raihan Beruni, Abu Ali ibn Sino, wide propaganda of this religious and cultural-scientific heritage of all mankind in the world.
While praising the initiative Bandar Hajjar pointed out that such noble ideas serve to further strengthen the unity of the Muslim world and the achievement of common goals.
The meeting also discussed other issues of further development of mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Islamic Development Bank.
