Tashkent to host the First International Half Marathon

Tashkent International Half Marathon 21 kilometers in length will be held on March 24, at the intersection of Afrosiyob and Beshyogoch streets.
It is organized by the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports, the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan, Uzbekistan Athletic Federation, Tashkent city administration and Uzbekistan Youth Union.
Since the marathon is held on Navruz celebrations, the competition will be held in parallel with festivities.
Participants of the event will get the opportunity to become acquainted with traditions and customs of Uzbekistan, to taste various dishes. Fashion and traditions show of residents of all regions of the country will be organized. The participants of the marathon will enjoy the sound of lapar, lazgi and chankovuz melodies.
– This marathon is organized to develop international sports and tourism, – said Secretary General of Uzbekistan Athletics Federation Komoliddin Ruzamukhamedov. – Athletes and tourists from near and far countries will be involved in the competition. Showing them the modern infrastructure of Tashkent, we intend to achieve other mass sporting events in the capital.
